large enough to offer a wide variety of ministries, but because we
are a church built on small groups, we’re permeated with a personal
atmosphere that new people notice right away. With need-meeting

Our Senior Pastor, David Cannistraci, is more than a gifted speaker
and author, he is a caring shepherd with a passionate vision to help
people discover a transforming relationship with God through Jesus
Christ. His lifetime commitment to San Jose has made him a true
asset to the community. With Kathy, his wife of 22 years, his two
teenage sons, and a talented staff all beside him, David Cannistraci
believes that his best days of helping people are still ahead. You

GateWay City Church really is an exciting church that cares!
Our History
It began in 1970, when God called Reverend Emanuele and Shirley Cannistraci to lead our church,
formerly known as Calvary Gospel Temple. Soon thereafter, the membership
swelled as many young people were saved and added to the church.
God provided a new location in Mountain View in 1976, and our church was
renamed Church of the Crossroads. Three years later we sold our former
property and moved, completely debt-free, into our beautiful San Jose
location. Our church was renamed Evangel Christian Fellowship in the
Spring of 1980. In the 1980's and into the present, our church as
continued to grow, families have been sent as local missionaries, staff
added, ministries expanded, and many daughter churches have been
planted.
In 2003, the congregation’s growth brought it to a new
location in the Eden Park neighborhood, where Highways 85 and 101,
Monterey Road, and Bernal Avenue flow together to create San Jose’s
southern gateway.
Apostle Cannistraci (Apostle C) has been serving the body of Christ for
over 53 years, and is considered by many pastors and leaders
as their ministry "father,” imparting spiritual covering,
guidance and leadership. Apostle C has preached in
over 25 countries around the world, serving as evangelist,
conference speaker and missionary. He flows powerfully in
the gifts of healing, faith and prophecy. The anointing upon
him has released thousands into the baptism of the Holy
Spirit. Apostle C serves GateWay with his lovely
wife, Shirley.
